Wet or dry duster – which is best to clean?

Different dusting jobs require different types of dusters, and each one has its pros and cons. The Spruce³ suggests that you should always start with dry dusting before moving on to wet dusting, because wet dusting can make the dust stick or smear. Dry dusting is also quicker and simpler than wet dusting, and you can use a microfiber cloth, a feather duster, a lambswool duster, or a compressed air duster¹² for it. Wet dusting is done with a moist cloth or a spray cleaner, and it can help get rid of sticky or oily dirt that dry dusting can't. Wet dusting also kills more germs and allergens than dry dusting³.

The best way to dust depends on what you are cleaning and how dirty it is. For most surfaces, dry dusting is enough and better, but for some surfaces that need more cleaning or sanitizing, wet dusting may be needed. You may also want to use different dusters for different parts of your home, such as a handheld vacuum for your sofa cushions, a fan duster for your ceiling fan, or a blind duster for your window blinds². The best duster is the one that meets your needs and preferences.
